FERRIDAY — A head-on collision outside of Ferriday killed one woman Sunday and sent another man to the hospital.

The collision occurred late Sunday afternoon on Louisiana 568 approximately 5 miles outside of Ferriday.

Multiple ambulances, Ferriday police and Louisiana state troopers responded to the scene.

Concordia Parish Coroner Jim Graves said Betty Johnson, a Ferriday resident in her 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The wreck involved Johnson’s sedan and an SUV; the driver of the SUV was sent to the hospital. The driver’s status remained unknown as of Sunday evening.

Graves said the Louisiana State Police continue to investigate the crash.
