NATCHEZ — Most 16-year-olds dream about getting their first car.

For one un-suspecting teenager with a loving father, his dream recently became a reality.

When The Dart landed near Mickey Abston’s house on Hillside Drive Wednesday evening, he was hosing down a car he had just purchased as a surprise gift for his 16-year-old son, Keymic.

Abston said his son turned 16 in September, and the car is simply a just-because surprise that his son had already seen, researched and had no idea he would be receiving that evening.

“He’s seen it, but he doesn’t have any idea he’s going to get it,” Abston said.

Abston said he was 15 when he received his first car, a black 1988 Nissan Sentra.

When he became a senior in high school, Abston said he graduated to a 1997 Sentra.  Since his son is already 16, Abston said he simply felt it was time that Keymic had a set of wheels to call his own.

He said Keymic was just car shopping, and his grandmother found it in Winnsboro and sent pictures. After that, Abston and his son drove to Winnsboro to check it out.

The car is a silver 2012 Chevrolet Camaro with 95,000 miles. Abston brought it home Wednesday and decided to wash and vacuum it before delivering it to Keymic, who waited for him at his mother’s house. Abston grinned at the thought of surprising him.

“I think he’ll be shocked,” Abston said.
