Join us for the third annual Color Natchez 5K on May 5, 2018.
Color Natchez 5K fun run is a 3.1 mile race held throughout downtown Natchez. What makes this different from a regular 5K? By the end of the run, you will be covered in color! More than 500 people participated last year for this great event and this year we are hoping for more. We are celebrating Cinco De Mayo — so look out for the sombreros and other festive attire.
The Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals created this fun-family event. We meet monthly to learn more about our community and to promote Natchez, as well recruit other young professionals to our area. This group has grown to more than 150 members and have increasingly become more involved in the community. We have joined with title sponsor, The Natchez Markets, to host this race. If you are looking for a family-friendly event in Natchez that will be entertaining and healthy, then the Color Natchez 5K is the event for you!
So how does it work? You start the dash, or walk if that is more your speed, by wearing white (a white T-shirt is included in your registration package). Then, as you proceed through the course, you are splashed with either blue, green, yellow, orange or pink powdery-goodness that is 100 percent non-toxic, food grade cornstarch!
The race will begin and end on Broadway in front of the Natchez Grand Hotel at the Rotary fountain overlooking the Mississippi River.
Pick-up registration packets either from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 4, at the Natchez Brewing Company, or at 8:30 a.m. before the 10 a.m. race on Saturday. The race will conclude with a color explosion, music, food, beer, and fun. We will be giving prizes to first place finishers for male and female categories, best team costume and best individual costume.
Signing up is easy! Either go to the event on Facebook titled Color Natchez 5K 2018 and click on the link or go to www.colornatchez.com. The cost to enter the Color Dash begins at $40 with packages available for families and children under 5 are free! If you entered by April 5 it is $10 cheaper and your name will be entered in a drawing for $200.
Need another reason to participate? Through 2018 Leadership Natchez Class’ participation, the money they earn will go to help Habitat for Humanity and the Stewpot.
A fun-filled run, full of color, and an event that is ALL Natchez — Come for the Color; Stay for the Party.
