NATCHEZ — Natchez Police responded to calls Monday about a large quantity of blood in the men’s bathroom at the Natchez Visitor Reception Center.
Just before 4 p.m. Monday, officers responded to what they believed to be a possible suicide. Upon arrival at the center, police quickly barred visitors and building management from the area.
Visitor center manager Anna Jones said the call to police did not come from her staff, and that the man inside the bathroom may have called police himself.
Police officers told Jones the man had locked himself into the last stall of the bathroom.
Jones said the bathroom had last been checked between 1 and 1:30 p.m. Monday and that she was not aware of the incident until police officers arrived at the building at approximately 4 p.m.
Natchez Police Captain Scott Frye would release no information regarding the situation at the time.
Emergency responders placed a man with a towel covering his head into an ambulance before 4:30 p.m.
