Ruth Good Moreland

MONTEREY — Funeral services for Ruth Good Moreland, 86, of Monterey, who died Tuesday, March 13, 2018, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Monterey First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Rushing officiating.

Burial will follow at the family Magnolia Cemetery in Monterey under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.

Nellie Ruth Good Moreland was born on Feb. 9, 1932, in Frogmore, La., the daughter of Max J. and Nan Blair Good. She was a resident of Monterey and worked as a nurse for more than 40 years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Galena Park.

Mrs. Moreland was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put others before herself and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was the strength of the family and loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, mind and strength.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harvey W. Moreland Jr.; her parents; and one daughter, Cheryl Ann.

Survivors include one son, Thomas W. Moreland Sr. and wife, Margaret Ann; one daughter, Maxilynn Moreland Guinn; four grandchildren, Amanda Beth McIntosh and husband, Coy, Randilynn Lea DeVoe, Holly Yvonne Nipps and Thomas W. Moreland, Jr.; and five great-grandchildren, Cale S. McIntosh, Miller Beth McIntosh, Jonathan Taylor-Ward DeVoe, JayCee D. Shorb and Liam L. DeVoe.
