NATCHEZ — Jeremy Vandevelde was free for 143 minutes.
Vandevelde, 42, 15 Front St., was released from Louisiana Department of Corrections on Tuesday after serving just less than three years for charges dating back to 2014.
Two hours after his release, deputies booked him into the Adams County Jail.
The sheriff’s office had a detainer for Vandevelde from charges also dating back to 2014, after the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested him on charges of simple burglary, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, theft under $750, simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of stolen items.
The state of Louisiana sentenced Vandevelde in May 2015 to be confined to the department of corrections for 12 years.
After his release Tuesday, Adams County sheriff’s deputies arrested him on charges of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, grand larceny and burglary of an inhabited dwelling.
ACSO Spokeswoman Lt. Cal Green said Vandevelde allegedly stole a computer, phone, shotgun and cash from a residence on Scheffel Road in 2014.
Green said Vandevelde sold the shotgun he allegedly stole at a pawn shop in Vidalia.
The pawn shop recorded the sale and reported it to the sheriff’s office, where deputies identified the shotgun as a stolen weapon.
“That’s how he came to our attention,” Green said. “He signed his real name with the pawn shop.”
Vandevelde was in the Adams County jail on a bond of $45,000 Wednesday morning.
