VIDALIA — While completing a routine residence check for a Vidalia man on parole, sheriff’s deputies said they discovered what they believe to be a minor drug operation.
Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigations Sgt. John Cowan said deputies arrived at the residence of Daniel B. Omiyewo, 30, 922 Moose Lodge Road, and discovered a cache of marijuana, ecstasy, methamphetamines and other schedule III drug substances.
Also found in the residence, Cowan said, was approximately $1,000 in cash, packaging material and scales commonly used to measure drugs.
Cowan said upon arriving at the residence, Omiyewo tried to exit through the back of the singlewide trailer, but deputies caught and handcuffed him.
Omiyewo was arrested on charges of possession of a schedule I drug with intent to sell, two counts of possession of a schedule II drug with intent to sell, possession of a schedule II drug and possession of schedule III drugs along with charges for possession of drug paraphernalia and a probation and parole hold.
The amount of marijuana, methamphetamines and MDMA, Cowan said, indicated to officers that Omiyewo was likely intending to distribute or sell the narcotics.
Omiyewo was still in custody at the Concordia Parish Jail with no bond set on Wednesday morning.
