Area teams set for basketball state tournament matchups

This week kicks off another full schedule of playoff basketball games for teams in the Miss-Lou.
Starting today, three girls teams in the LHSSA will play games in the regional round.
Class 2A No. 3 Ferriday High will host No. 1 Rosepine at 6 p.m. at the Ferriday Junior High. In Class 1A, No. 5 Block will host No. 12 Tensas at 7 p.m., while No. 13 Delta Charter will travel to No. 4 Arcadia.
Also hosting a girls game tonight will be MHSAA Class 3A Jefferson County High School — the No. 2 seed from Region 7. They will play No. 3 seed from Region 6 Crystal Springs at 7 p.m. in a first-round game. Additionally in Class 3A, Region 7 No. 3 seed Franklin County will travel to Region 6 No. 2 seed Magee.
On Tuesday, the MHSAA Class 3A boys state playoffs will begin as Region 7 No. 1 seed Franklin County will host Region 6 No. 4 seed Raleigh at 7 p.m. Region 7 No. 4 seed Jefferson County will travel to Region 6 No. 1 seed Crystal Springs at 7 p.m.
In MHSAA Class 5A, Region 6 No. 3 seed Natchez High School (boys) will travel to Region 7 No. 2 seed Pearl River Central at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
MAIS state tournament play also begins Tuesday for four local teams.
After claiming the Class A South State title Saturday, the Trinity Episcopal boys team will be the No. 1 seed from the South, set to play the North No. 4 seed Columbus Christian at 5:15 p.m. The Class A State Tournament will be played at Delta Academy through Saturday.
In MAIS Class AA, the South No. 2 seed Centreville Academy girls team will play its first state tournament team at 4 p.m. against North No. 3 seed Manchester Academy. The tournament will take play at Brookhaven Academy through Saturday.
The Adams County Christian School boys and girls teams will both play in the MAIS Class AAA State Tournament at Columbia Academy.
The South No. 4 seed Lady Rebels will begin play at 7:45 p.m. against North No. 1 seed Leake Academy. The South No. 3 seed boys will begin play at 6:30 p.m. against the North No. 2 seed Starkville Academy.
