NATCHEZ — Everyday Miss-Lou residents are about to get the opportunity of a lifetime — to see themselves on the silver screen.
Locals are sought to be in a full-length, feature movie that will begin filming on Feb. 5 in Natchez.
Morgan Casting seeks teenagers and young adults to play the role of high school students, as well as adults of any age or ethnicity to fill roles such as teachers, casino employees, cocktail waitresses, EMTs, liquor store patrons and employees and veterinarian clinic technicians and customers, to name a few.
Casting Director Matthew Morgan said the movie would offer a great opportunity for “tons” of locals, both with speaking parts and as extras.
“The film is a horror (movie) with a really great and fun storyline,” he said.
Morgan said two important settings in the film are a high school — which will include both contemporary and ’80s flashback scenes — and a casino.
“There’s a lot of fun opportunities for people here in Natchez and surrounding counties,” the Mississippi native said.
The crew offers extras $64 for an 8-hour day and $112 for 12-hour days.
Natchez Mayor Darryl Grennell announced in December that the feature film would take place in the city.
Grennell said the movie would feature actress Octavia Spencer, who received an Oscar nomination Tuesday for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “The Shape of Water.”
Grennell also said producer John Norris and director Tate Taylor — both involved in the 2014 movie, “Get on Up!” — would be part of the this film.
Morgan said he could confirm neither the name of the movie nor the director or any cast members at this point, but he said the film is “loaded” with talent.
Those interested in being part of the film are asked to email a head-and-shoulders photo and a full-length photo to mississippimovieextras@gmail.com.
The email should be titled “(name) for Natchez Movie 2018 — Extra” and the body should include the name, age, phone number, city and state of residence, any prior acting experience (if applicable) and dates of availability.
More details are available on Morgan Casting’s Facebook page.
Filming is expected to last through approximately March 8, Morgan said.
