VIDALIA — A Jonesville man turned himself in Wednesday and was arrested on 15 various drug possession charges.
Derrick M. Jefferson, 31, 14465 U.S. 84, Jonesville, was arrested on three counts of possession of a schedule I drug with intent to sell, 10 counts of possession of a schedule II drug with intent to sell, one count of possession of a schedule III drug with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jefferson was released after posting a bond of $150,765 Wednesday.
Early on Dec. 1, officers found approximately 4,082 grams of marijuana, 907 grams of methamphetamines, 290 grams of liquid THC and approximately $60,000 at Jefferson’s residence.
Concordia Parish Narcotics Task Force Chief John Cowan said the residence had been identified as a narcotics distribution center before the bust.
The narcotics were found in a car parked behind Jefferson’s residence that officers located while chasing a subject who was in the residence at the time.
Henry Michael Jefferson, Jr., 23, 201 Sixth St., Ferriday, was arrested at the residence on Dec. 1 on a probation and parole hold.
Cowan said Henry Michael Jefferson is Derrick Jefferson’s nephew.
Cowan said officers from the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office, Vidalia and Ferriday police departments and Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s office assisted in the seizure of approximately $140,000 in cash and drugs alone.
Concordia Parish Sheriff’ Office Chief Deputy David Hedrick said the seizure and ensuing arrest was accomplished by the combined efforts of several departments and that busts such as this one enforce the parish’s no-tolerance policy for drugs.
