NATCHEZ — A Natchez woman was arrested Monday after allegedly having intimate relations with an inmate while she was employed at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola.
Diamond Nicholson, 23, 3116 Oak Hill Drive, was arrested Monday on a charge of felony sexual malfeasance after allegedly having sex with an inmate.
Both Nicholson and the inmate admitted to the allegations Monday.
Nicholson had been an employee at Angola since Dec. 12, 2016 and resigned during the investigation, the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections reported in a written press release.
The inmate was placed under administrative segregation for his disciplinary rule violation.
Nicholson’s affair was discovered in the course of a large effort to stymie contraband smuggling into the prison.
The investigation also revealed a Gloster woman smuggling contraband into the penitentiary on Friday.
Amber Sanders, 22, 1602 Stump Road, Gloster, admitted Friday to smuggling contraband into the institution after investigators allegedly found 1 ounce of mojo or synthetic marijuana, three cell phones and two chargers on her person during a search.
Sanders had been an employee of the prison since July 3, 2017.
A third former employee was arrested Sunday after allegedly smuggling 6 grams of cocaine, 101 ecstasy pills, 1.1 ounces of THC, and a cigarette laced with synthetic THC into the prison.
Keyshawnna Rogers, 24, 6375 Kinnon Lane, Ethel, La., was arrested on a charge of felony introduction of a contraband.
She, too, admitted to the crime and resigned.
Rogers had been an employee of the prison since May 15, 2017.
