NATCHEZ — A Natchez man was arrested Thursday afternoon for allegedly sexually assaulting a 6-year-old multiple times.
Harold Norvill Box III, 37, 22 Jack Kelley Road, was arrested on five counts of felony molestation for allegedly touching a child for lustful purposes.
Box was arrested after the child’s mother reported the assault to police, Adams County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jerry Brown said.
Brown said the child told her mother about the incidents, which happened at least five times, and the mother reported the incidents to the sheriff’s office.
Box was arrested early Thursday afternoon and deputies attained a search warrant for Box’s residence later that day. They completed their search of the residence at approximately 4:30 p.m.
ACSO Lt. Cal Green said the ensuing investigation determined enough evidence existed to support the arrest.
“We’re at five (incidents) right now,” Brown said. “That could change.”
Brown said Box was a relative of the child.
Box is currently being held at the Adams County Jail without bond.
Brown said the investigation is ongoing.
