NATCHEZ — Police are investigating a shooting from late Wednesday night that sent one man to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his buttocks.
Natchez Police Department Capt. Scott Frye said the specifics leading up to the alleged shooting remain murky.
“That’s really all I can say right now,” Frye said. “We don’t really have any good details yet.”
Frye said the shooting occurred on Watts Avenue late Wednesday night. He said the victim was taken to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson for treatment and was still — to Frye’s knowledge — at the hospital Thursday afternoon.
Police received a 911 call about a potential aggravated assault at approximately 11:40 p.m. Wednesday.
Frye said Thursday investigators were in the process of interviewing multiple subjects but had not received anything concrete yet.
“Hopefully something rapidly develops, and we’ll have somebody in jail before the holiday,” Frye said.
