NATCHEZ — Authorities Wednesday arrested a Natchez man for allegedly using a pocketknife against his girlfriend, and more charges against the man are expected today.
Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Travion Maria Williams, 27, 202-A Morgantown Road, on a warrant for aggravated domestic violence after he allegedly beat his girlfriend with his fists while she was driving.
ACSO Maj. Jerry Brown said the couple was on their way to Williams’ mother’s house amid a looming break-up when Williams allegedly began punching his girlfriend while the vehicle was in motion.
Brown said as the car pulled into the driveway Williams continued the assault, allegedly elevating the level of violence by brandishing a pocketknife and causing some lacerations to the woman’s face.
After Williams reportedly took his girlfriend’s keys to keep her from driving off, deputies came to arrest Williams.
The sheriff’s office likely will issue more charges today, Brown said, but he would not release specifics until after a judge signs the affidavits.
As of Thursday evening, Williams was being held at the Adams County Jail with no bond set.
