NATCHEZ — The Concordia Parish Narcotics Division arrested five men Tuesday night on drug charges in two different incidents.
Curtis E. Butler Jr., 41, 1048 Loop Road, Jonesville, and Bradley Boothe, 41, 121 Boothe Cemetery Road, Harrisonburg, La., were arrested at approximately 6 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of schedule I and schedule IV drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Butler and Boothe were arrested during a traffic stop in which a law enforcement dog discovered Xanax and a small amount of marijuana, Narcotics Division Detective John Cowan said.
No bond was set for either man on Wednesday morning.
Three more men were arrested late Tuesday night in Monterey, Cowan said, when officers observed two men using methamphetamines through a front porch window while attempting to deliver civil papers to the property owner.
Wesley C. Rabb, 37, 14620 East Beaver Drive, Pride, La., was arrested on charges of possession of a schedule II drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, convicted felon in possession of firearm, carrying of weapon and possession of a controlled drug substance, two bench warrants for failure to appear and a bench warrant for failure to pay.
Paul Gray Jr., 35, 321 Plouden Bayou Road, Monterey, was arrested on charges of possession of schedule II drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, carrying of weapon and possession of a controlled drug substance.
Neither Gray nor Rabb are owners of the residence, Cowan said, but were in the house at the time officers arrived.
The owner of the Monterey residence, Durward E. Brown IV, was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and flight from an officer.
Cowan said though Brown was not present at the time of the initial arrest, he shares responsibility for the drugs and weapons found in the household in the execution of a search warrant.
No bond was set Wednesday for Gray or Rabb, and Brown’s bond is set at $2,126. All three men were being held at the Concordia Parish Jail.
