NATCHEZ — Natchez aldermen approved a lease agreement Tuesday for new golf carts at the Duncan Park Golf Course and a $1 increase in the cart rental fees.

The slate of 50 Yamaha golf carts, all 2018 models, and one range cart will cost approximately $3,700 a month to lease, an approximately $6,000 annual increase from what the city currently pays for carts.

As a result, Interim City Clerk Megan Edmonds said the golf course could increase rental fees from $14 to $15, which she said would bring in approximately $8,000 in additional annual revenue.

The new equipment puts the city approximately $3,000 over budget for the current fiscal year, but Edmonds said the increased rental fees could mitigate that outcome.

The rental fees for golf carts at the course have not risen since for the past five years, Edmonds said.
