VIDALIA — At least one suspect allegedly broke into multiple Vidalia churches late Sunday, making off with an unknown quantity of audio equipment.
Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office lead investigator Phillip Webber said at least three area churches experienced break-ins Sunday evening, but he limited his comments because of the ongoing investigation.
“I just want to make sure we’ve got our i’s dotted and our t’s crossed,” Webber said.
Webber said some speakers had been stolen from the churches, though he did not say how many or from which churches specifically had been victimized.
Sheriff’s office dispatch records indicate four churches reported at least attempted breaking and entering:
- Triumph Baptist Church, 171 Howard Road
- Pleasant Baptist Church, 812 Moose Lodge Road
- Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, 744 Moose Lodge Road
- St. James Baptist Church, 138 Freeman Road
All of the churches are in close proximity to each other.
Webber would not comment regarding whether investigators believe the incidents are connected.
Webber indicated that investigators have leads and said he would likely have more information today regarding the case.
