Holder drug store will be missed

One of Natchez’s most unique downtown stores closed Tuesday, drawing the curtain on decades of its existence.
In its most recent form, Wilson-Holder Drug Company has been an interesting and eclectic fixture on Franklin Street for almost 40 years.
The business was the last in a long line of downtown pharmacies.
And, aside perhaps from Walmart, it contained some of the most eclectic, but practical goods you could imagine — from normal drug store offerings to a can of WD-40 or some seasonal flowers to plant in your garden.
Owner, Larry Holder said he simply wanted to retire and could not find anyone to take over the pharmacy.
With his wife Annette, Holder has been the epitome of a good downtown business owner, and he deserves the ability to enjoy his retirement.
Through the years, the Holders restored the exterior of the historic building into impeccable shape.
Personally the Holders have been vital parts of downtown Natchez for many, many years.
Their business will be missed to be certain, however, just as Natchez has learned through its rich history, this is a chapter in the long and continuing history of Franklin Street.
We know that with time another business venture will find its home in the building and begin making its mark in the history of Natchez.
