FERRIDAY — Louisiana State University head football coach Ed Orgeron made an appearance in the Miss-Lou Friday, attending Ferriday High School’s football game against Delhi Charter.
Trojan coach Stanley Smith said Orgeron had notified him last week he planned to attend and said he was able to speak with Orgeron prior to Ferriday’s 54-12 win.
With Ferriday seniors Dare Rosenthal and Dantrieze Scott already committed to LSU since this past summer, Smith said the visit was mainly a check-up.
“He wanted to put eyes on them and make sure they are doing well and staying on track,” Smith said. “He told me that he wants to continue to make Ferriday a pipeline and a staple for recruiting.”
Smith said Orgeron also got the chance to watch other Trojan players including seniors Sam Johnson and Larry Scott, as well as younger players such as Byron Milligan and Da’minya Milligan.
“The future is bright for everyone,” Smith said. “That says a lot that he came to Ferriday. The kids were excited when they saw him since that says there is an opportunity for everyone to go the next level.”
LSU is on a bye week before it takes on Alabama on the road next Saturday.
