VICKSBURG — Eddie Ray Dye Jr., Tallulah resident, 52, led sheriff deputies on a truck chase through Madison Parish, La. to Issaquena County through Warren County, Saturday. He crossed into Mississippi at 2:50 p.m. Saturday and was taken into custody at 4:08 p.m., Warren County sheriff Martin Pace said.

The Vicksburg Post reports  Warren 911 received a call from the Madison Parish Louisiana Sheriffs office at 2:40 p.m. of a driver coming into Warren County driving a stolen vehicle semi-truck.
Dye drove through Vicksburg engaging Warren County Sheriff Deputies and Vicksburg Police in an approximately a two-hour chase.

The vehicle took the Halls Ferry road exit and traveled south on Halls Ferry road.

As he left Vicksburg city limits Vicksburg Police Dept. backed off and Warren County Sheriffs continued the chase down Halls Ferry road through the county as he turned east on Gibson road to the intersection of Hwy 27, in the Tingleville community, Pace said.

Spike tracks were put in the driver’s path and blew out the front tires, but Dye continued driving at a pace of about 35 miles per hour, Pace said, despite having two nearly flat front tires.

Approaching Issaquena County, Issaquena Sheriff’s deputies joined the chase as the Mississippi Highway Patrol with the Warren County Sheriffs Department.

As Dye continued the chase into Issaquena County the driver slowed to “a snails pace,” said Pace. Dye finally stopped when the front tires of the stolen 18-wheeler were completely deflated, and Pace and another officer were able to get in front of him. Dye was taken into custody without incident, Pace said.

Dye is charged with felony eluding in Mississippi and is being held without bond in Warren County Jail, Pace said. In Louisiana, he faces several felony charges including assault of a police officer and theft of a vehicle.
