Franklin County falls at home to Hazlehurst, 28-15

MEADVILLE — Tim Steward had three touchdown runs as the Hazlehurst High School Indians, ranked No. 4 in Class 3A defeated the Franklin County High School Bulldogs 28-15 Friday night in an MHSAA Region 7-3A game.
Jahem James led Hazlehurst (5-2, 1-0) in rushing with 89 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries. As a team, the Indians racked up 222 yards on the ground.
Franklin County, on the other hand, couldn’t get its offense going against a stout Hazlehurst defense. The Bulldogs were limited to four first downs and 137 yards of total offense.
Jaquan Brown accounted for both of the Bulldogs’ touchdowns. He threw a 25-yard TD pass to Cameron Young with 4:54 left in the third quarter and scored on a five-yard run late in the game. Brown went 5-for-10 passing for 47 yards.
Franklin County (0-7, 0-2) hosts Port Gibson next Friday at 7 p.m.
