NATCHEZ — A Franklin County man was arrested Thursday in Adams County for reportedly shooting his brother in the face earlier in the week.
Franklin County Sheriff James Newman said Keith Wade Edwards and his brother got into an altercation at approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at their father’s residence on Rand Road near Roxie.
Edwards allegedly shot his brother on the left side of his face with a 12-gauge shotgun, before fleeing the scene.
Newman said the victim was shot in the area around his chin and mouth, causing him to lose some teeth. Newman said the victim has gone through surgery at a Jackson hospital and is expected to recover.
Franklin County deputies received information Edwards may have been in Adams County, and Newman said he contacted Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten.
Adams County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Lt. Cal Green said Adams County deputies recovered Edwards’ vehicle Wednesday on Moss Grove Road. While checking the area Thursday, Edwards was found inside a residence on Tate Road.
Edwards, 48, was in the Franklin County Jail Thursday held on a $40,000 bond.
While deputies were at the residence a vehicle approached and one of the passengers was identified as a man who had Adams County warrants for failure to register as a sex offender.
William Dakota White, 25, was arrested and transported to the Adams County Jail.
Patten said the person Edwards was staying with on Tate Road was brought in for questioning. Patten said the person’s involvement is under investigation.
Newman said the Adams County Sheriff’s Office did a professional job in apprehending Edwards.
“I had been in communication the whole time with Capt. (Frank) Smith,” Newman said. “Adams County (deputies) zeroed in on the trailer (Thursday) afternoon and took the subject into custody without incident. They did a really great job.”
