NATCHEZ — Making your own tie-dye shirt, potentially winning a free year of coffee and the famous juicy burgers will be some of the highlights this weekend at the Cathedral Fall Festival.

Event Chairman Jessica Stubbs said the school is ready to bring the community and the Cathedral family together Saturday and Sunday.

“We have games, we have great food, it is just a chance for everyone to get together,” Stubbs said. “Come to spend to spend time with your family, to do something fun and to benefit the school.”

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the campus will have carnival games including the cake walk, a tie dye T-shirt booth, spin art projects, face painting and go fish.

“(For spin art) you drop dots on a piece of paper and spin it and it creates a splatter pattern,” Stubbs said. “Kids love it. You can make some cool designs.

“They also love to tie dye their own shirts. They make their own shirts they can take home.”

The aforementioned burgers as well as other food options will also be available for lunch. Crafts, scratch cakes, casseroles, books, Cathedral merchandise, homemade candy and raffle tickets can be purchased during the weekend.

The raffle tickets range from $1 to $5, and prizes include free Natchez Coffee Company coffee for a year, an Apple iPad Mini, flat-screen TV, $200 gasoline gift card, T.G. McCary portrait session, Vera Bradley luggage and a $3,000 cash prize.

The silent auction features several options including class theme baskets, class artwork and alumni artwork.

Saturday night’s supper event begins with take-out plates at 5 p.m., featuring barbeque ribs and Roux 61 gumbo. If you want to dine in, that starts at 6 p.m.

At 7 p.m. adult night will begin with the paddle auction. Tickets range from $5 to $20. Prizes include a trip to Hawaii, a week in Destin, Fla., furniture, works by local artists and a grill.

Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the carnival games, food and raffles continue on the elementary school playground and in the multi-purpose room.

The traditional turkey dinner will be available for take out or dining in from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Finally, from 2 to 4 p.m., the school is hosting a bingo event in the cafeteria and the winners from the raffles will be announced, closing the doors on the school’s largest fundraiser of the year.

“Admission is free and everyone is welcome,” Stubbs said. “It is tons of fun and all the kids win.”
