After suffering its only loss this season to General Trass last week, Delta Charter (2-1) is learning the importance of resilience.
Storm coach Blake Wheeler is hoping his team will keep its spirits up as it heads on the road to Oak Grove at 7 p.m. Friday.
“I told them we want to build a program and not just a team,” Wheeler said. “With Oak Grove, they will get to see first hand a program that is always competitive and has won multiple state titles. I’m hoping they see the toughness and see that’s where we want to be.”
As always, Wheeler said his approach is all about attitude and effort.
“We are taking it one day at a time and working to get better each day,” he said. “We are staying positive and working on the little things. We have had some younger guys step up, so it’s going to serve us well down the road.”
Oak Grove (2-1) enters the week after falling to Sterlington last Friday, 34-6.
“Going to Oak Grove, it is a great place to play with a great environment but a tough place to win,” Wheeler said. “They have had a great program there for years, but I’m proud of my guys. They have a lot of heart and pride. No matter the score, they will keep fighting.”
