NATCHEZ — An alleged burglary of a Natchez business ended in the arrest of one suspect, though police said more arrests are possible.
Officers responded to a call at approximately 6:08 a.m. Thursday of a possible business burglary at Shala Lounge located at 920 Martin Luther King Jr. St., the Natchez Police Department reported.
Police said the suspect(s) allegedly forced entry into the building by pushing an air conditioner unit out of the window, then climbing through the window.
The alleged perpetrator(s) then reportedly stole an undisclosed amount of alcohol and damaged a pool table in the process of stealing money from inside the table before leaving the scene.
Police said an anonymous tip led them to one suspect: Jerome Robinson, 54, 303 W. Vidal St.
When officers tracked Robinson down, he reportedly tried to run but was apprehended soon after the attempted escape.
Police said they recovered a white bucket Robinson was carrying that contained items stolen from Shala Lounge. The Mississippi Department of Corrections reportedly also wanted Robinson for a probation or parole violation.
As of Friday afternoon, Robinson was being held at the Natchez City Jail on a $30,000 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing, and more arrests are possible.
