Cathedral looks to stay perfect

Cathedral High School is on a roll, and that’s just the way it likes to be.
The Green Wave (3-0) looks to remain undefeated and surpass its win total from last year as it hosts Amite School Center at 7 p.m. Friday.
“Gaining momentum with wins instead of losses, it adds to all of the things they do and gives them more confidence,” Cathedral coach Chuck Darbonne said. “They see what the product is, and it gives them inspiration to work a little harder.”
The Green Wave ended last season at 3-8 and Darbonne — in his second season at the helm — said the first few weeks of this season have already felt like a big turnaround.
Cathedral swept past Trinity last week at home, 41-13.
“We have made some progress and beat some good teams,” Darbonne said. “They have definitely done a good job of doing what we preach around here. It’s a great group of kids.”
Despite winning its first three games, Darbonne said he would still like to see improvement all over the board.
Cathedral has leaned on its run game so far this season, led by senior Greg Moore with more than 800 yards and 10 touchdowns.
“There have been bad parts of every game that we have had to overcome,” Darbonne said. “We are nowhere near where I want to be. We have to get where we are able to do the types of things in the first three games against everybody we play.”
