NATCHEZ — A film crew is said to be taping in the Miss-Lou this fall for an upcoming TV series, though officials have been sworn to secrecy on what the series is.
Natchez tourism director Jennifer Ogden Combs confirmed a TV series would be filmed in the area around the time of the Great Mississippi River Balloon Race, which takes place in October.
Combs said the series is being filmed under the name “Project Oxbow,” though she could not say specifically when the crew would be in town.
Combs said, however, the filming would occur on both sides of the river.
“There will be some filming (in Natchez), but a lot of this is in Louisiana,” Combs said.
Residents may not even know what exactly their cities are hosting until they see it on screen for themselves.
Officials privy to the filming are unable to disclose specifics until after the show has already aired, Concordia Economic Industrial Development District Heather Malone said.
“Because of the type of series, we’re under a confidentiality agreement as far as what they’re doing and when they’re doing it,” Malone said. “We’re not really at liberty to provide those details right now.”
While Malone was mum on series specifics, she said “some type of announcement party” is apparently taking place at some point down the road.
But even at that point, Malone said, the details of what the show is will be scarce.
“Even then, they won’t be specific about what they’re releasing,” she said.
Whatever the series is, locals might have to wait until October or later to know for sure.
