NATCHEZ — An Adams County man suffered a gunshot wound to his foot Wednesday night.

Adams County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Jerry Brown said deputies were dispatched to Merit Health Natchez at 7:15 p.m. for a gunshot victim, who has since been released from the hospital.

Brown said the victim stated after he got out of his vehicle and was walking to his residence on Elbow Lane, he heard two gunshots. Brown said the victim reported when he looked down, he noticed he had been shot in the right foot.

Brown would not elaborate, but said witnesses on the scene of where the shots were fired have reported something different.

Brown said the victim is not cooperating at this time, but the sheriff’s office has a person of interest based on witness statements.
