Ferriday High School had little trouble with Lincoln Prep Saturday as the Trojans rolled their way to a 42-0 jamboree win in the third annual Eddie Robinson Classic.
“That was a big win for us,” Ferriday coach Stanley Smith said. “We came out and executed. We played fast and mistake-free football for the most part.”
The first-year coach said sophomore quarterback Kobe Dillon stood out for the Trojans offensively, passing for a touchdown while running for another.
“He had a pretty good night,” Smith said. “He threw the ball pretty well.”
Smith said playing in a college stadium was exciting for him and his players.
“We are going to use this as a building block,” he said. “First time playing as a unit in a game-like atmosphere at Grambling — they have new turf and a new jumbotron — this was a good deal for us.”
Ferriday will kick off its regular season next week when it travels to face Alexandria.
“We need to get more physical up front,” Smith said. “The defense played really sound, but we still need to get better all around.”
