Cathedral uses ground attack to rush past Central Private, 44-14

Greg Moore and J.T. Taylor combined for 353 rushing yards and six touchdowns as the Cathedral Green Wave rolled to a 44-19 win over the Central Private School Rebels Friday night in the MAIS District 5-AAA opener for both teams.
Moore led the way with 212 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries while Taylor had 8 carries for 141 yards and three touchdowns. Taylor also saw some time at quarterback, completing five of 10 passes for 50 yards.
While the Green Wave’s offense racked up 505 total yards, the one player for Central Private (1-1, 0-1) it had a hard time containing was Cole Averette. Averette had 27 carries for 239 yards and two touchdowns.
The Green Wave was only up 14-7 after one quarter of play and 23-7 at halftime before outscoring the Rebels 21-6 in the third quarter.
Cathedral (2-0, 1-0) plays at Trinity Episcopal next Friday with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
