VIDALIA — A routine traffic stop by a Vidalia police officer last week led to the arrest of a New Orleans man and seizure of approximately 8.5 pounds of marijuana.
Alfred Louis Dunn Jr., 29, 8601 Dinkins Drive, New Orleans, was charged with improper equipment and possession of schedule I marijuana with intent to sell.
While patrolling Carter Street last Thursday at 10:28 p.m., Officer Lane Vestal made a traffic stop on Dunn for reportedly not displaying a license plate, said Vidalia police spokeswoman Miranda Clifton.
Vestal reportedly smelled marijuana and questioned Dunn. Dunn allegedly showed the officer a small bag of marijuana and claimed it.
After arresting Dunn, Vestal searched the vehicle and located nine vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana, with a total weight of 8.514 pounds.
Dunn was in the Concordia Parish Jail Wednesday on a $25,250 bond.
