ACCS football jamboree canceled

The four varsity and three junior varsity jamboree football games scheduled Thursday at Adams County Christian School were canceled because of heavy rainfall and lightning.
Despite Thursday’s cancellation, ACCS was able to schedule a spot in tonight’s jamboree at Oak Forest.
The Rebels are set to play Oak Forest and North Pike today.
Cathedral High School is also set to play at Oak Forest with games scheduled against Loyd Star and Centreville.
The Rebels were scheduled to host Clinton Christian Academy, Amite School Center and Brookhaven Academy Thursday.
ACCS coach David King said he was disappointed his team was not able to take the field Thursday night.
“It’s the final steps before your first game, and there are a lot of things that go into it,” King said. “The lighting is what got us, but the field was in pretty rough shape by the time the rain came through.”
This is the second-straight year the Rebels have had to cancel its jamboree because of weather.
“It showed very much in our first game last year (the missed jamboree.),” King said.
Now with the chance to work through some final preseason kinks, King said the cancellation was still a disappointment for ACCS supporters.
“For the fans, it was a good opportunity to have a game on our field,” he said. “That’s Mississippi weather for you; it’s part of it. All in all, we did what was best.”
ACCS will open its regular season Aug. 18 at Central Hinds Academy.
