TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — Natchez native John McDuffie Jr. was recently awarded the Tyndall Air Force Base Civilian Category III Associated Unit Quarterly Award.
McDuffie, the son of John and Alberta McDuffie, is a 1979 South Natchez Adams High School graduate.
He is an Air Force energy program analyst and was recognized for his leadership and job performance.
Between April 1 and June 20,2107, McDuffie led an 88 personnel team on facility energy compliance reporting, which included over 20,000 elements at 185 U.S. Air Force sites — a Department of Energy Best Practice.
He also planned and coordinated 26 topics and 40 hours of training for 35 new Air Force energy managers.
McDuffie was also recognized as the Air Force installation mission support command superior performer. During a recent unit effectiveness inspection, he analyzed over 100,000 facility energy records at 78 Air Force installations — a critical step for reducing the Air Force energy bill by $1 billion dollars.
He completed a 40 hour project manager training course in preparation to take the four hour project management professional certification exam.
McDuffie honorably served in the United States Air Force for 27 years, retired in 2006 and continued employment with the USAF as a contractor and federal employee for the past 10 years.
