Iwould like to personally thank the Food and Wine Festival Committee for another successful event this past weekend.

Each year I have said I needed to express my gratitude to the many volunteers that help create this experience. What a great opportunity to have guests checkout all our great shops and restaurants while staying in our hotels.

More than 600 people attended the Friday night  “Tasting Along the River”   which I understand 70 percent were from out of town. Everyone I talked with had fun tasting samples from the many prominent Mississippi chefs and restaurant foods while indulging in fine wine, beer and entertainment.

A special thanks goes to Rene’ Adams and Lyn Fortenbery for their ever-increasing dedication and enthusiastic support for this event and for the countless hours they give to make this weekend beneficial for all businesses which reflects on added tax dollars for our community.

I know first-hand I had one of my most profitable days of the year, and talking to other merchants they had the same experience as well. Saturday was not only a great day for retail but for participation in the many other special events offered during this time.

To me this proves we need more activities like this in the future for tourists to discover all our assets. I look forward to Food and Wine Festival 2018 and again applaud those in our community who work tirelessly to make Natchez the best place to live!
