FERRIDAY — Those looking for good, clean and fun entertainment on Saturday might want to head to the Arcade Theater in Ferriday.

The Delta Music Museum will present the Ronnie Cox and Friends Show, featuring musicians Avery Michaels and Exit 209, at 7 p.m. in the Arcade Theater, adjacent to the museum.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and tickets cost $15 a person or $25 per couple at the door. Proceeds go toward paying performers.

Museum director Linda Gardner said that Cox has been holding a show every second Saturday since the beginning of January this year.

“He’s done a good job of making his shows different from the last,” Gardner said. “There (has been) music and comedy … it’s very enjoyable.”

Cox said he tries to bring in local as well as out-of-town talent to perform at the Arcade Theater, all of whom are professional musicians and performers.

In the beginning of each show, however, Cox said he likes to “take it back to the old school.”

“First thing we do is open with a word of prayer, recognize soldiers and people’s birthdays,” Cox said. “The show’s not just about one person, it’s about getting everyone involved with the show.”

After the opening ceremonies, the gospel group Donald Wilford and Voices from Heaven will open, followed by an intermission.

“I make a special point during intermission to shake everyone’s hand … We want people to come and make them feel like a part of our family,” Cox said.

After the intermission, Avery Michaels will play, followed by Exit 209.

From Alexandria, La., Michaels is a keyboard player and singer who also does impressions. Michaels and his band have been recording rock music, and Cox said that the last time he played attendees loved his music.

“About halfway through their show, they take off their cowboy hats and play gospel music,” Cox said. “They have the most beautiful harmonies I’ve ever heard.”

Exit 209 is a local country rock band that has been together and performing for 25 years.

“They’re great musicians and a super bunch of fellas,” Cox said.

Cox recommends that friends and family should come to the event for a good evening of music and entertainment.

“We offer good, clean, fun. We make everyone feel comfortable,” Cox said.
