NATCHEZ — The Natchez-Adams School District unveiled a new online registration system this week for parents of students in the kindergarten through seventh grades.

The mandatory registration continues until July 21.

The registration is available by clicking on the enrollment/registration tab at natchezadamsschooldistrict.org

Parents must have a valid email address to complete the online registration, Public Relations Coordinator Steven Richardson said.

With the valid email address, parents will receive an identification number called a Snapcode that will allow parents to proceed with registration.

Richardson said if a parent does not have Internet access, they can go to the student’s school for access and assistance between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Parents of all students, returning and new, should have two proofs of a physical address. Examples of acceptable documents include mortgage documents or deed, lease agreements or utility bills and a valid driver’s license, voter ID or current vehicle registration.

New students must also have a long form birth certificate and an official report card, transcript and school withdrawal form.

Richardson said the district chose to phase in the new registration this year by starting with the lower grades to identify any glitches with the new technology.

“We want to make sure we phase in some students first, instead of all at once,” Richardson said. “We want to see how the new online registration works … We have 3,600 students in the district. We don’t want it to be overbearing. The risk of technology can be great.”

Eighth through 12th-grade registration is taking place throughout the summer via paper forms.

“We look forward to adding the eighth and 12th grades to our online registration portal in the near future,” Richardson said.

Richardson said parents should try to register their children as early as possible.

“We are hoping that parents register early to allow time for them to make any unexpected changes to the submitted information well before school starts,” Richardson said. “Early registration also allows parents enough time to receive assistance without having to rush through the process at the last minute.”

The district will offer parents an opportunity to register during the school district’s “Days with the District” orientation from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 10 and from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on July 11 at the Steckler Multipurpose Center.
