For the second-consecutive week, Mississippi College has dipped into Natchez to pluck a talented sharpshooter.
Cathedral High School’s Emily Hootsell signed archery scholarship papers with the Clinton-based school Thursday morning.
“This solidifies all the hard work I’ve put in, and it makes it real,” Hootsell said.
The Green Wave’s signing comes just over a week after MC signed a pair of Adams County Christian School standouts, Allison Freeman and Morgan Rives.
Hootsell has been competing in archery for the past five years, starring for the Adams County 4-H
On April 29 at the SW District 4-H shooting sports contest in Pearl, Hootsell, along with Freeman, registered top honors in the Senior II archery event with a score of 123. The top scores qualified both players for the 2017 Mississippi 4-H State Shooting Sports Invitational in late July in West Point.
“Archery a big part of my life,” Hootsell said. “It’s a lot of fun, and it’s a way for me to release my energy. Some people go running, I like to shoot archery.”
Hootsell is the daughter of Regina and Finley Hootsell.
