VIDALIA — A Sicily Island woman was arrested this week for allegedly stealing money from the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicle’s petty cash.

Stacy B. Bordelon, 40, 280 Leland Loop Road, Sicily Island, was arrested Wednesday on charges of two counts of theft less than $750 and malfeasance in office.

Louisiana State Police Master Trooper Scott Moreau said troopers received the complaint approximately a week ago and began an investigation, which resulted in Bordelon’s arrest.

Bordelon worked at the Office of Motor Vehicle’s Vidalia office.

Moreau said on at least two occasions Bordelon allegedly stole money from the department’s petty cash. Moreau said he did not know how much cash was stolen.

Moreau said he did not know if Bordelon had been suspended pending the investigation, which he said was ongoing.

Bordelon was released on a promise to appear per Judge John Reeves on Wednesday.
