NATCHEZ — Residents of Adams County and Concordia Parish could experience severe weather this afternoon as a cold front pushes through the area.
The National Weather Services issued a hazardous weather advisory Friday for most of Mississippi, including Adams County.
Possible severe storms may develop Saturday morning through the early evening, from 11 a.m. until approximately 8 p.m, Senior Meteorologist Mike Edmonston said.
Adams County and Concordia Parish may experience damaging winds, and quarter size hail.
Edmonston said it is important to remember storms moving through the may not be hazardous, but residents should still exercise caution.
He said the highest point in the storm system’s development will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Winds could reach 60 miles per hour, Edmonston said.
“That kind of wind can down trees,” he said. “If people are doing any kind of outdoor activities they should be on the look out for lightning.”
The report from the NWS said the probability for widespread hazardous weather from Sunday through Thursday is low for the area.
