Ferriday police looking for two armed robbery suspects

FERRIDAY — Ferriday police seek two armed men who robbed a Louisiana Avenue convenience store manager and his pregnant fiancée Tuesday night as they were closing the store.
At approximately 10 p.m. as the Shanfara Mart store manager was closing the store, two black men wearing dark clothes and masks approached with pistols drawn and forced the store manager and the pregnant woman on the ground, Ferriday Police reported. The masks appeared to be white shirts covering the two suspects’ faces, police reported.
Undetermined amount of money was taken from the night deposit box as well as the wallet of the store manager, police said.The suspects, who are of a slim build, were last seen running toward Mickey Gilley Avenue.
No one was injured, but Metro Ambulance Services was dispatched for the pregnant woman due to her being forced on her stomach, but she was not transported to the hospital with Metro. The woman is nine months pregnant.
This is the second armed robbery in Ferriday in the past week in which two men robbed a convenience store attendant outside the business.
Early Saturday morning, two black men reportedly canvassed the Exxon on E.E. Wallace Boulevard and robbed the attendant when he stepped outside, taking his wallet.
Police are investigating to see if the robberies are connected.
