NATCHEZ — An Adams County man was charged with drug trafficking and 10 pounds of medical-grade marijuana seized during a drug bust Thursday.
Phuong Dinh Tran, 33, was charged with trafficking a schedule I drug in a church zone following a series of searches as part of an ongoing joint investigation between the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.
Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said in a statement that agents arrested Tran as he was leaving a Pecan Way residence in a vehicle. Agents reportedly discovered 10 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle.
Patten estimated the street value of the marijuana at $91,520. Patten said agents found evidence at Tran’s residence at Riverbreeze Apartments indicating the marijuana was shipped to Adams County from California, and that money was wired back to California.
The vehicle and $4,194 in cash was also seized.
Patten said evidence also led agents to a Woodville Drive residence where a small amount of marijuana was located.
Tran remained in the Adams County Jail Thursday night without a bond.
Patten said Tran’s arrest is unrelated to a drug bust earlier this week during which two men were arrested and 22 pounds of marijuana and guns were seized.
