NATCHEZ — A Natchez man was arrested Saturday for allegedly taking a covered trailer valued at approximately $3,000 from a business in December.
Johnny Jackson, 57, 91 Dyer Road, was charged with grand larceny.
Natchez Police Lt. Kenneth Stampley said Jackson reportedly connected his vehicle to a 12-foot cargo trailer parked in the Animal Medical Center parking lot and drove away.
When Jackson allegedly hooked up to the trailer, it was approximately 11 a.m., Stampley said. Stampley said employees reportedly witnessed Jackson take the trailer and police were able to identify him through his vehicle description for the arrest.
Natchez police tracked Jackson to Jefferson County and he was arrested by the sheriff’s office.
The trailer’s value is listed at $3,000 in the report, but Stampley said it could be worth more than that.
Stampley said the trailer, which belongs to the business, has not been recovered. Stampley said investigators had not had a chance to speak with Jackson but would Monday.
Jackson was in jail Sunday with no bond set.
