NATCHEZ — Natchez police officers seized more than 30 grams of marijuana at the Red Carpet Inn Thursday morning.

Capt. Tom McGehee said Timothy Vanison, 46, 302 Bluebird Drive, was charged for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within a school zone following the discovery of marijuana in his motel room.

McGehee said officers were called to the motel because of a disturbance involving Vanison and reportedly found his room smelled of marijuana.

After obtaining a search warrant, McGehee said, officers discovered more than 30 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the room.

Vanison was subsequently arrested and charged. He remained in the Natchez City Jail Thursday afternoon without a bond.
