NATCHEZ — The victim in a Thursday night stabbing said Saturday initial reports from police about the relationship between she and her alleged attacker were wrong.

Valerie Moore, 54, 95 Marin Ave., was charged with aggravated assault Thursday for allegedly stabbing a woman at the Marin Avenue residence.

The victim, Brittany Good, said Moore is not her girlfriend. Good said Moore’s son is the father of Good’s son.

Police Chief Daniel White initially said Moore allegedly stabbed her girlfriend two times in the leg.

Good said she has six stab wounds, two in the leg and four in the stomach.

The altercation began earlier in the evening between Moore’s son and his girlfriend, Good said.

Good said they reportedly beat her up and left.

Good said Moore then allegedly tried to take Good’s son, Moore’s grandson, and that’s how the fight started.

Good, who had been staying at the residence for three days so the family could visit with the child, said Moore reportedly stabbed her six times.

White said Moore is claiming she stabbed Good in an attempt to get the victim off of her.

White confirmed Saturday Moore is not in a relationship with Good, but that Good is the mother of Moore’s grandchild.

White said he had not made contact with the victim due to medical reasons. White said the investigator was unable to speak to her Thursday night because she was being flown to Jackson.

White said the surgeon in Natchez said Good was stabbed multiple times, but confirmed one stab wound was in the leg.

Good said she was in stable condition at a Jackson hospital.

“Thank God I am in stable condition right now,” she said. “Everything seems to be right on track.”

Moore was in jail Saturday with no bond set.
