NATCHEZ — An Adams County man out on bond for an alleged shooting at Holiday Apartments in July 2016 is behind bars again after allegedly shooting and robbing another man at the same apartment complex this week.
Natchez Police Department Lt. Kenneth Stampley said Michael K. Thomas, 20, 17 Jones Road, reportedly shot and robbed a man who was sitting in a vehicle shortly before 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holiday Apartments.
The victim was shot in the torso and was treated and later released from the hospital, Stampley said.
Thomas was out on bond for a July 2016 shooting that also occurred at Holiday Apartments when Tuesday’s shooting allegedly occurred.
Thomas was charged with aggravated assault in July for reportedly shooting a man multiple times in both legs. The incident reportedly occurred following a dice game in front of building 10 at Holiday Apartments.
Thomas was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and armed robbery following Tuesday’s shooting.
He was apprehended thanks to community cooperation, Stampley said.
“It was an excellent example of community cooperation, because several hours after the incident, the community got involved, and the suspect was identified and taken into custody,” Stampley said.
A $750,000 bond was set for Thomas when he was arraigned for the incident Thursday in Natchez Municipal Court. Thomas will remain in jail, however, because Sixth Judicial District Court Judge Forrest “Al” Johnson revoked his bond for the aggravated assault charge stemming from July’s shooting.
The bond was revoked following a motion from the District Attorney’s Office. District Attorney Ronnie Harper said his office filed the motion after learning of Thomas’ alleged involvement in Tuesday’s shooting.
