FERRIDAY — A Ferriday man was arrested Tuesday for reportedly attempting to detain a woman inside a residence and also attempting to bite a Concordia Parish deputy.
Stevie Scales, 30, 339 Levens Addition Road, was charged with simple kidnapping, simple battery, disturbing the peace, resisting an officer and public intimidation.
Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy David Hedrick said Scales had a woman at his residence, where he reportedly attempted sexual advances toward her. When she resisted, Hedrick said Scales allegedly tried to detain the woman as she was attempting to get out of the residence.
Once outside, Hedrick said Scales and the woman reportedly got into a struggle, where Scales allegedly tried to drag the woman back into the residence.
Hedrick said the woman got away and dialed 911 at a neighbor’s residence.
When deputies arrived, Hedrick said, Scales was reportedly in the yard cursing and yelling, at which time he threatened the law enforcement officers. Hedrick said Scales allegedly tried to fight with the deputies and also attempted to bite one of them.
Hedrick said deputies had to use necessary force to arrest Scales.
“No one was injured, thank goodness,” Hedrick said. “My deputies did a good job. I am proud of them for showing self-restraint in a dangerous situation.”
Scales was in jail Wednesday afternoon with no bond.
