ACCS girls come back to stun Cathedral; ACCS boys fall to BA

A 20-point fourth-quarter advantage helped spur Adams County Christian School past rival Cathedral 56-52 in the girls consolation game of the MAIS District 4-AAA tournament Saturday.

Both teams will advance to next week’s South State Tournament.

ACCS will be the No. 3 seed, while Cathedral will be the No. 4 seed. The two teams will face District 5 No. 2 and No. 1 seeds, respectively.

Bowling Green won the District 5 tournament title over Centreville Saturday, 67-29.

Cathedral (23-7) held ACCS to a high of 12 points through the first three periods, but the Lady Rebels (22-5) exploded for 28 points in the final frame.

Bailey Boyd led ACCS in scoring with 20 points, while Anna McDaniel had 16.

Grayson Bryant led CHS with 16 points, and Natalie Fletcher added 14.

Brookhaven Aca. 53, ACCS (boys) 50

Julian Wilson scored 24 points but it wasn’t enough as ACCS fell to Brookhaven 53-50 in the consolation game on the boys side.

The Rebels will be the No. 4 seed from the district in next week’s South State Tournament.

ACCS (11-13) put up a fight by outscoring BA 21-14 in the fourth quarter, and Darius Demby chipped in with 13 points.
