The fifth-seeded Simpson Academy Lady Cougars pulled off perhaps the biggest upset of the MAIS District 4-AAA Tournament at Brookhaven Academy Friday night as they stunned the top-seeded Adams County Christian School Lady Rebels 51-45 in the girls’ semifinal round.

ACCS got back to playing better defense in the third quarter and that allowed the Lady Rebels to cut into the lead. They scored 14 points while holding Simpson Academy to just eight points to make it a 38-33 game. The Lady Cougars responded then with a 13-12 edge in the fourth quarter.
Bailey Boyd led ACCS (21-5) with 16 points and Lexi Emanuel poured in nine points. The Lady Rebels will take on cross-town rival Cathedral at 2 p.m. today in the girls’ consolation game.
