Give hunger a hand: Empty Bowls set for Sunday

NATCHEZ — Local clay artists have been busy making, shaping and decorating bowls for Sunday’s Empty Bowls event at the Natchez Pottery studio on Clifton Avenue.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Natchez Stewpot to help feed the hungry in Natchez.
The event first began in Natchez in 2004. Until last year, the event was hosted every other year. Because the need to help feed the hungry has increased, the local potters decided to host the fundraiser for two consecutive years, Natchez Pottery owner Patrica Gaude said.
Funds will be used for maintenance, repairs and operational expenses at the Stewpot.
On the day of the event, guests can come to Natchez Pottery and select a bowl to fill with gumbo and a piece of cornbread.
Attendees can either eat there or to-go, leaving with a homemade bowl and a little more heart.
Tickets are $25 and can be bought at Natchez Coffee Company.
