WATERPROOF — A Waterproof man was arrested Sunday night along the Concordia and Tensas parish line for allegedly shooting and hunting from a vehicle after hunting hours.
Tyrone Washington, 46, 653 Louisiana 65, Waterproof, was booked Monday at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense), possession of legend drugs without prescription, possession of schedule III drugs, two counts hunting deer after hours, two counts hunting from moving vehicle and two counts of hunting or discharging a firearm from vehicle.
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division officer Adam Einck said a patrolling agent reportedly observed Washington in the process of hunting from his vehicle on a Mississippi River levee road on the parish line.
When the agent attempted to speak to Washington, the suspect reportedly drove away but stopped after a brief chase.
A spike deer and doe were in the back of the truck, Einck said. The agent also reportedly found Washington to be in possession of prescription pills, hydrocodone, without a prescription. The agent said Washington was suspected to be under the influence of the drug while driving the vehicle.
LDWF recovered Washington’s .22-caliber rifle and the two deer, Einck said.
Washington was in jail Monday on a $40,000 bond.
The charges collectively carry up to a $7,500 fine. Washington may also face civil restitution totaling $3,249 for the replacement value of the illegally taken deer, Einck said.
